ROHLOFF SPEEDHUB 500/14
The Ultimate in Durability
The Rohloff Speedhub has long been hailed as the GOLD standard in drivetrain reliability and durability. With customers clocking up over 500,000kms on them it’s easy to see why they’re popular for long distance cyclist. We’ve built plenty of Rohloff bikes over the years, but with supply chain issues, and the growing popularity of bikepacking and other long distance types of cycling we feel it’s time to bring Rohloff hubs to more riders looking to ride more and replace parts less.
The Range: a lot of customer assume that Sram Eagle is the bench mark for super low touring gears these days, but Rohloff has been offering the same 526% range for decades. (srams current 10/52 cassette provides 520% range) So on paper Rohloff and Sram Eagle are effectively the same overall range, however the Rohloff Speed hubs, have even 13.6% gaps between each gear, a straight chainline and ability to run a much thicker and more durable chain, on most Rohloff equipped bikes there’s also no derailleur/tensioner to get bent or broken and unlike continental shifters, all the rohloff indexing is done inside the hub rather than at the shifter, so shifting is always crisp and smooth.
Rohloff make ALOT of versions of the Speedhub 500/14 to suit most frames and brake types, so drop us a line to discuss the options, we also offer a range of frames that are perfect for the Rohloff platform. Surly Ogre, Surly Karate Monkey, Surly Krampus, Salsa Fargo.
