TRP have become our go to brake option for everything from DH Bikes, Enduro bikes right through to rigid adventure bikes. The main reason is they simply work and keep working. With a simple mineral oil design, large lever blade, high volume and thick brake hoses these brakes have excellent feel and require less maintiance then any other hydraulic brake we’ve used. They also take a “standard” Shimano Zee/4 Piston brake pad so if you can’t grab a TRP brake pad you can use Shimano or alot of aftermarket options. The DH-R is a relivtely new option from TRP but so far it follows the same rules, great lever feel and reliablity we’ve got to love about the rest of the range. They do require a special thicker disc rotor but these seem to last very well and suffer far less brake fade and stay straighter. We’ve also run a standard rotor just to see if it’s possible in an emergency when your on tour and there aren’t any other options. The Polished Silver version is killer and really pushs home that not every bike part needs to be black. BUT they also do a black version (or Gold) if silver isn’t your thing.
